"You Are My Sunshine"

This week for Music Tuesday I chose the song, "You Are My Sunshine" for the following reasons:

Tone- Although most people usually think of this song as being very happy and upbeat, it is actually very sad. For example, one line in the song says, "But if you leave me to love another, You'll regret it all one day." It is very melancholy and sad.
Connotation- When you think of "sunshine," you usually think of happy, warm, summery things. It is a word that usually brings a smile to the face.
Symbol- The sunshine is usually a symbol for something for happy and warm. What most people don't usually think about is that the sun eventually goes down. It leaves. This song uses the sun to talk about how although it makes you happy, it will not stay forever.
Denotation- In the song it says, "When I awoke dear, I was mistaken." Although mistaken can mean "wrong" or in terms of an apology, meaning to say "I'm sorry," it can also mean that you hoped for something, but it was wrong. Maybe you hoped that the song would stay forever, but soon realized that it was not going to happen. It too makes the song very melancholy.

What I Think About the Description for ESFJ's

Here is what I thought about the description of most ESFJ's based on a description from http://www.personalitypage.com/ESFJ.html :

·       "[they] are people persons-they love people."

 I agree because I was 78% extravert. I really like people& love being around them and learning about them. It also really fits what I want to do for a career because I want to be a nurse and nurses deal with people 24/7.

·       “they...have a strong focus on the details of life.”

I strongly agree. I pay attention to details and tend to focus on the small things. Details are very important to me.

·       “[they] are warm and energetic.”

I am full of energy and am usually hyped up.

·       “They have a strong need to be liked, and to be in control.”

This is really similar to me because control is something I demand. I like being in control of things in my life and don't like it when things are hectic and out of hand.

·       “Their dominant structure demands structure and organization, and seeks closure.”

This really reflects my personality. I need to be organized and like it when everything is in it's place and is exactly how it should be. Disorganization is messy and overwhelming to me.

·       "They are hurt by indifference and don't understand unkindness."

I disagree with this because I don't feel like I'm a super sensitive person. I don't think mean people or cruel comments towards me usually hurt me that much since I'm usually able to just blow them off.

·       "They don't have intuition to help them understand the real consequences of their actions."

I disagree with this. I feel like I understand the consequences of my actions and if anything, worry about them too much. I usually think through my actions a lot beforehand so I don't have to deal with the consequences in the end. I feel like I do have intuition.
