To
cut my hair or not cut my hair--that is the question:
Whether
it’s worth it to have shorter hair
And
have less hair to deal with,
Or
to leave it long and flowing down my back.
To
be Rapunzel or to need a hair tie-no more-
And
losing the locks,
A
shorter ‘do’ with less tangles to comb.
No
more knots and no more hair to style is a pleasant thought-
Maybe
to the point of not doing my hair at all-
Ah
and there is the catch.
For
if I cut my hair, I can no longer style my hair to my liking.
When
I show up to the prom with my short ‘unstyled’ hair
I
have to think about my decision…That’s what will make me decide
To
keep my long locks and cancel my haircut.
For
who would put up with the tangled hair,
The
knots after a long day, the endless hairspray,
The
constant shampoo purchases, the daily styling-
When
I could simply cut it all off?
Who
could stand to keep their long hair, to endure
Spending
hundreds of dollars on hair products and hours in the morning
To
get ready-but the fear of never being able to style my hair again,
Losing
all freedom I have to wear a ponytail, or curl my locks,
Makes
me want to cancel my haircut and enjoy my long hair.
