Antigone Trial Debrief

I really enjoyed our Antigone trial. It was a lot of work to prepare for, but fun to execute. It was pretty nerve-racking once we had to actually perform, but I enjoyed it. I hope we can do more trials for other selections we read throughout the year.
As the Defense, our job was to prove that while Antigone broke Creon's law, she followed the laws of the gods. We had to show that the gods were all-powerful and that their laws were the only ones that needed adhering to. It was pretty hard though, and we had to regroup quite a few times once we heard what the prosecution was going to throw at our witnesses. Overall though, I think the jury's decision was a reflection of our performance and attempt to prove Antigone innocent.
I also found the trial difficult because we had to coordinate with all our witnesses and make sure they didn't slip up. We had to give them confidence and help them know exactly what to say when the prosecution questioned them. Our witnesses did very well. Tieresisus especially did a wonderful job as "she" acted very well and shut down the prosecution when they tried to attack.
I really enjoyed the trial and hope we will do another one very soon, maybe this time without any dress rehearsals. I would also like to do a trial that can end either way. It would be very interesting and the two sides would really have to prepare in order to determine how they want to steer the case.
